My cat LOVES it! Couch now safe from his claws!, June 12, 2010

I have big orange cat named Sunny who likes to be able to reach and  stretch while scratching. He used to be an outdoor cat, but was diagnosed with FIV (Feline AIDS), and has to be kept indoors for his health, and for the health of all the other cats in the area.

I had several other scratchers for him, and he did use them sometimes, but he could only stretch out full length when clawing the back of the couch, so he preferred to use that!  I am using this post in conjunction with Pet Organics No Scratch (also available on Amazon). In the past, the No Scratch did not work that well by itself. Sunny still needed to scratch, so he still used the couch, but not as much.

With the new   scratching post  plus the No Scratch (sprayed on the couch every day), he has not touched the couch once! I had catnip spray (also available on Amazon) in reserve to spray on the post if needed to entice Sunny, but all I had to do was scratch it with my fingernails, and he came running to try it for himself, and now uses it regularly.

It is strong and sturdy, and was easy to assemble (the bottom needs to be attached). I could not find my screwdriver, so I used a butter knife from the kitchen, and it worked fine. I was worried that it would have a special screw and I would have to figure out who used the screwdriver last and then track it down. No need! It was set up in less than a minute. It gives every indication that it will last for years and will be a good investment.

Large and Sturdy, June 5, 2010

This   scratching post is much more substantial than those you generally see in the stores. My kitten eagerly climbs the post and is able to pull herself onto the top to sit. I think as she grows she will be able to use this post for many years to come.

Great for large housecats, June 3, 2010

My cats kept pawing on my couch. I wanted to get a tall scratching post for them to use instead. This one is perfect. One of my cats is very long and he loves to stretch so he is enjoying this. I did have to rub some catnip on it to get them to start using it.

Watch A Happy Cat Using His Scratching Post!

Training your feline beloved pet to direct his attention from one piece of furniture to another may be a difficult task, but with patinece and perseverance it can be achieved. If you see him heading towards the legs of your favourite furniture  pick him up and  take him to the scratching post. If you learn how to deal with  your cat and his natural instincts, he will be a friend for life.

I’m a retailer in Brooklyn, NY. I’d like to carry your product. Can you tell me if you use a distributor or I would buy it direct from you.

    Thanks,
    Marion

    Try Amazon or the manufacturer.

    Marion:

I am an Amazon affiliate. You should try directly with the manufacturer (SmatCat).
